Silver Eagle is my public Witch name. Just as there new beginnings for all living things taking a public Witch name is an important step in ones life. Publically I was known as Windwalker. However as the wheel of life turned and my life experiences grew I felt a new name was needed to reflect who I am as a person and Witch. After much thought and mediation I decided Silver Eagle Felt fit me better. Ever since I was a young child I have felt a kinship with the Eagle, strong and majestic, yet gentle and wise. Perhaps I have completed a circle with my new public Witch name. I do know that since I have taken the name of Silver Eagle I have felt a greater peace within my soul.
Yes I am a real Male Witch. Like most other people in the world I am a very complex person. I am happily married to a wonderful woman and we share our home with fourcats. We rescued Lucky from a four lane divided highway in Circleville. One could not ask for a better feline friend. And I rescued Isis from a two lane highway here in northeast Ohio. Isis is a sweetheart who loves everyone with an insatiable curiosity.
Although I am a Witch and live my life as a Witch I do not belong to a coven. We have a small group of friends we get together with once in a while to perform rituals with on our sacred Sabats. There are many Witches out there who practice their religion in solitude and through their daily life. However I am more open about my beliefs than many I know. I do openly wear a Pentacle. And the amazing thing is that many people do not know what it is. But every year at Christmas these same people put Pentacles (five pointed stars) on their homes and atop their Christmas trees. Perhaps they do not realize the Pagan roots of Christmas and the true meaning of the Pentacle?
I grew up in a Christian household, never feeling right about Christianity. Even as a child I could not bring myself to believe this was the truth in life as far as religion went. I did a lot of reading as a child about aliens and UFO's. Any book that came out about 'The Chariots of the Gods', I had to have. There are many things I am in disagreement with about Christianity. Some of them include:
The concept of Hell and Satan. I do not believe for a minute that there is an all evil being who rules over an afterlife of suffering, pain and anguish. This is a concept invented by men to control people and convert people in the early days of Christianity. It is no coincidence that this evil deity looks so much like the God Pan. His physical characteristics are those of Pan. Early Christians just figured that if they could demonize Pan they could scare people into converting to Christianity. Sure looks like it worked, however with the resurgence of Pagan beliefs perhaps this is turning around. Only time will tell.
Sin is another concept created by men to control men. I do not believe people are born into sin. I believe all people are born into this world as good and decent. It is their environment that causes them to turn out the way they do. Take a look at the United States as a person, instead of a country for example. The United States was founded upon the blood, flesh and bones of the American Indian and Black Slave with the most terrifying and violent methods we could use hundreds of years ago. Yes this nation was founded by violence. When we needed territory for expansion we made up lies and half truths about the people we were taking the land from and then made up an excuse to go to war with them, kill as many as possible and herd the survivors off to death camps we called 'Reservations'. No there is no way to undo our violent and bloody history. But we can work on changing ourselves. All we have to do is take that first step of forcing violence out of our lives. The next time a violent show comes out don't watch it. Leave the violent computer game on the store shelf. Eventually the violent shows and games will wither and die without an audience.
Then there is the idea of going out with the intention of convincing otherwise good and decent people that their way of life and beliefs are immoral, unethical and that their beliefs, perhaps the very foundations of their society are based upon an illusion created by an all evil being who exists in the spirit world with the sole purpose of controlling people to do his bidding. Am I the only one who is offended by this intrusion, by "Born Again Christians" including the so called Moral Majority? When confronted by these evil individuals my repsonse is usually not very kind. I let them know I do not need their false Gods. I recall once when my wife and I were still dating we went to an amusement park in Ohio for a day of fun and relaxation. When we went to try to find a place to sit down and eat our lunch all the tables were filled to capacity, except one where a lone young man sat. After inquiring he said he would be happy to share his table with us. Within two minutes of sitting down he began asking if we were born again yet. I informed him my religious beliefs were not open for discussion and advised him if he continued we would get up and leave. At that he stopped his questioning. This young man is entitled to his beliefs, just as I am entitled to mine. The difference is that I do not run around trying to convert people. I believe in trying to find a way to live together in peace, no matter your race, religion, political affiliation or income bracket. Only when all people do this will the hatred, violence and killing stop.
How about the notion that sex is dirty and evil. Now where did the idea come from that two people making love is something that we should not acknowledge, except with whispers and giggles. I admit I do not know the complete answer, however I believe this immature attitude towards sex dates back to the puritans that originally settled in New England. Think about it for a minute. For example, is there anything more beautiful than the female breast? This life giving organ is viewed by our nation in general as a dirty little thing to be covered up. Honestly though would you rather your children play some computer game which involves ripping people apart or killing other people in the most horrible way thinkable or would you rather they see a bare breasted woman? I know my answer. As a Witch I view sex as a beautiful way for two people in love with each to communicate their love in a deep and meaningful way.
Don't get me wrong here. In no way am I condoning and/or promoting promiscuity. I believe that healthy adults can and should develop caring, loving and close bonds with other adults. Those relationships can and should range from friendship to lovers. For example a person can have a close friendship without ever commiting a sexual act. However to be lovers without friendship and love indicates a potentially serious problem with either one or both individuals. Yes physical relationships should be between consenting adults, either of or over the legal age, who care for each other deeply.
I would argue the idea that animals do not have souls with anyone. However this is one of the beliefs of Christianity, and has been used as justification for the senseless killing of animals, very often until a species becomes extinct.
The Bible is the word of God. Stop and think about this notion for a minute. Who really wrote the Bible and what language was it written in? It was written by men, not a divine being. And it was originally written in Hebrew. Isn't Hebrew a middle eastern language spoken primarily by Jewish people? Last time I checked it was. The Bible is not the word of God, but mens version of what they want other men and women to believe is the word of God.
I believe all people are born with natural psychic abilities, but that through our ignorance have lost touch with our abilities. It is not that these abilities are lost, but that we have forgotten how to use them. Through practice anyone can develop their natural psychic abilities.
In 1990 I started reading and researching Witchcraft and Wicca. After two years of study I initiated myself into the craft in May 1992. I am a solitary Eclectic Witch. This means I do not belong to a Coven. I do incorporate rituals, ceremonies, spells and information from many religious paths into my practice and use of Witchcraft. I am college educated with a BS in Business Administration/Finance, plus a self taught computer programmer.
No one recruited me. I was drawn to Craft by several factors. As I described earlier I never did believe many of the teachings of Christianity, however there were other considerations. Upon studying the craft I discovered I already believed many of the concepts of Witchcraft and the teachings of Witches, as given through the ages. In addition I have always had some very special gifts that I really did not understand and did not know how to use. In summary being a Witch is a way of life, just as other religions/befiefs are a way of life.
I have and continue to use the Craft to better my life. For example I have cast a spells for more money, healthy children, hdone healing work to assist an ailing relative, etc. I have also used the Craft to bring more love into my life, and to protect myself and my family from harm. Not once have I or anyone I know used the Craft and their power as a Witch to control other people. Hence, 'An it harm none'.
I love music of all kinds, except opera. Just can't bring myself to sit through an opera. My music collection is extensive, including everything from Jazz, Rock and Roll, Country and Blue Grass to Pagan music. Some my favorite artists are WENDY RULE, SHARON KNIGHT, ENYA, RUSH, LOREENA MCKENNIT, LINDA RONSTADT, HEART, THE DOORS, LED ZEPPLIN and the list goes on. I probably have close to 300 cassette tapes, 200 lps and a CD collection that grows on a monthly basis.
WENDY RULE is a wonderful performer who happens to be a Witch. I found her by doing a search on the internet for pagan music. Her Albums include: Zero, Artemis/The Killing Moon and Continental Isolation. Plus Wendy now has a Live Album for sale on the internet. She has a wonderful voice and a beauty to go with it. I only wish that I could see her in concert in the United States.
Music is a universal language. Very often someone will hear a song that is not sung in their language, but like it anyway. Enya is a great example of this. Many of her songs are sung in Gaelic. Gaelic is not a widely used language outside of Ireland. Yet her music still sells in the United States. Because people can relate to the music, even without understanding the words, they buy it. I know because I like her voice and musical style. After her first CD I was hooked.
Yes we are our brothers keeper. If we do not look out for neighbors then why should we expect them to look out for us? Plus keep in mind the Law of Three...by helping those less fortunate than you, you will receive back the good energy up to three fold. This holds true no matter what your beliefs are. That is why when you see a group of people trying to take away the rights of someone else or another group of people you must join in the fight for Freedom. For to allow a person to take anothers right away to read a certain publication, like Playboy for example, you are endangering your own rights to read what you want and freely speak your mind. What if Christians were told that they were a minority in the world and no longer had the right to read their Bible. Well it is true Christians are a minority in the world population. If they are banned from reading their Bible and Witches, Jews, Muslims , Atheists, Pagans and other Non- Christians stand by and do nothing then they will loose their rights to read certain materials as sure as the Earth circles the Sun. This very thing has happened in other countries! Remember the Soviet Union, the nice dictatorship that banned all religion. Or how about Iraq and Iran? And in our own hemisphere there have many dictatorships in Central and South American countries who banned books, newspapers and any other publication that may be detrimental to their regime. The astonishing thing is this very thing is going in the United States now! But because it is not on the level of a national campaign with a central leader it receives very little notice. Instead this campaign of half truths and fear is carried by hateful, spiteful God fearing people on local levels. And the center of their campaign is your right to information on the Internet. Yes there are lots of people who want to take your right away to even read these pages I have posted. Fortunately the courts uphold our constitutional rights every day. But we can not continue to stay silent and expect to keep these rights. Voice your opinions on your local talk shows, write to your judges, and representatives in government. They will listen because their jobs very often depend upon your vote. IF YOUR NOT REGISTERED TO VOTE....REGISTER TO VOTE AND EXERCISE YOUR RIGHT TO VOTE. As long as the people of this country sit by complacently allowing the same people, or worse yet the religious right, to get into public office they will loose more rights everyday and the jerks who want to control your life get a little more control each day. THE TIME HAS COME FOR EVERY MAN AND WOMAN TO VOTE AND MAKE THEIR VOICES HEARD IN THE MEDIA. If you will not do these simple things then you deserve to loose your rights and it will be no ones fault but your own.
Well I hope this gives you a little more insight into a real American Witch. I am an everyday normal person just like you. I go to work, own a home and have loving wife who is supportive in all that I do. I am an average American. One more thing, Wicca, Witchcraft and Paganism are the fastest growing religions in the world today. You never know where we are or who we are unless we are public about it.
