Minnie and Shadow, Best Friends

Minnie & Shadow relaxing after a hard day of play

As I mentioned earlier in my web page Minnie was perched on a womans shoulder from the SPCA when we were at the veterinarians office waiting for Isis to get her yearly shots. She was there to get her tail checked, or what was left of it. She took a ride in the engine compartment of a highway maintenance truck and when the workers found her her tail was damaged beyond repair. When we did get to see her a few weeks later she was shy, but allowed my wife the priveledge of holding her. She settled right down and looked very comfortable. Below is a picture of Minnie in one her more relaxed moments.

Minnie - A Loveable Companion

Minnie is definitely full of personality. She loves to play with little balls of wadded up paper. And when she feels the need for added excitement she drops her paper toy in one of the water dishes and makes a game of fishing it out. Minnie also hates being left alone. Sometimes it is necessary to close the door of the room you are in. But Minnie may not think so and will reach underneath the door with her front leg trying to find you, or get you to play with her.

Although Shadow and Minnie are pals, Minnie has made a friend with Isis. We think it helped that Isis was still a very young cat when Minnie and Shadow came into our lives. Isis and Minnie like to chase each other and wrestle. At times you would think we had the 'Feline Wrestling Federation' in our home. Below Isis and Minnie are hanging out together.

Isis & Minnie hanging out together

Like Minnie Shadow has no tail. We do not know what happened, other than she wandered up to someones home and lucked out. When she was a very young kitten her tail became injured and had open wounds/sores which the veterinarian could not heal. So her tail was amputated. However she does have a little bit of her tail left, a nub. Thus while she was with the SPCA she earned the name 'Nubs'. However when she adopted us we renamed her to shadow'. She is a black kitten with a little white spot of hair next to each ear, giving the impression she should antlers or horns growing from her head at these spots. Needless to say these distinctive markings only add to her beauty.

Shadow is a sweetheart, with long soft fur. She is easy to get to purr. Just pick her up and her motor starts going. But when you pick up Shadow, be forewarned...her body goes limp and she reminds you of a rag doll. She is not as active as Minnie and Isis. She has a disposition similar to Lucky when it comes to activities...'I'll just watch, wouldn't want to look foolish.' But when she wants attention Shadow will meow at you without opening her mouth. She also spends a lot of time on top of the cat playground we bought for them as pictured below.
